SUMMARY:Sunday Lyceum Book Study
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Lyceum Book Study – 9:30 AM\nOur Sunday Lyceum book study meets every Sunday morning at 9:30 AM\, just before our Spiritualist Sunday Worship service at Memorial Spiritualist Church in Norfolk\, VA. It is a quiet\, thoughtful start to the day\, focused on spiritual learning and honest discussion. \nWhat We Do In Lyceum\nEach week\, we work with a selected book that supports personal growth and deepens our understanding of Spiritualist principles. We read\, reflect\, and then talk about how the ideas show up in real life. \nFirst\, we begin with a brief check-in and a short reading from the current book.\nNext\, we open the floor for discussion. People share insights\, questions\, and personal experiences.\nFinally\, we look at how the material connects with Spiritualism and with our own daily choices. \nThe tone stays open\, respectful\, and practical. You are free to speak or simply listen. \nHow Lyceum Connects To Spiritualism\nLyceum has long been part of Spiritualist tradition as a place for education and spiritual development. In our Sunday Lyceum book study\, we use the book in front of us as a springboard to explore topics like: \n\nNatural law and personal responsibility\nThe continuity of life and Spirit communication\nHealing\, service\, and spiritual growth\n\nYou can also visit our Spiritualism and Declaration of Principles pages on this site to see how these ideas fit within our core beliefs. \nWho Can Attend\nYou do not need to be a member\, a long-time Spiritualist\, or a big reader to join. You can jump in at any point in the book. We recap as needed so new people can follow along. \nMany participants stay after Lyceum for our Sunday worship service\, since the two often complement each other. If you want a thoughtful\, low-pressure way to learn and ask questions\, the Sunday Lyceum book study is a good place to start. \nTo see what else is happening at Memorial Spiritualist Church\, you can also visit our Events Calendar and Spirit Message Programs pages on this site.

SUMMARY:Mediumship Development Circle
DESCRIPTION:Build your intuitive skills. Strengthen your connection with Spirit.\nOur Mediumship Development Circle at Memorial Spiritualist Church in Norfolk\, VA gives you a steady place to train. Instead of guessing at your impressions\, you learn how mediumship works and how to work with it. \nEach circle begins with a short teaching. We focus on one clear topic at a time\, such as Spirit communication\, psychic perception\, energy awareness\, or ethics in mediumship. You learn what to look for\, how to stay grounded\, and how to give information in a responsible way. \nAfter the teaching\, you practice. You work with guided meditation\, simple awareness exercises\, and partner or small group readings. You notice how information arrives\, how it feels in your body\, and how to separate intuition from imagination. The circle leaders are experienced mediums who give direct\, respectful feedback so you can track your growth. \nThe Mediumship Development Circle welcomes both beginners and developing mediums. Some people come because they have always felt “something” and want to understand it. Others already serve Spirit and want structure\, accountability\, and a trusted place to keep their skills sharp. \nMediumship takes practice\, patience\, and a clear mind. This circle gives you a focused environment to build those habits. Many students also attend our regular services and classes\, which you can explore on our Spiritualism page on this site. \nWe ask each participant to come with an open mind\, a willingness to learn\, and respect for confidentiality. What happens in circle stays in circle\, so everyone can relax\, experiment\, and grow without pressure. \nIf you want to explore your own mediumship in a grounded\, no-drama setting\, this mediumship development circle offers a consistent way to do the work\, week after week. Joining us gives you a community that speaks your language and supports your development over the long term.
