SUMMARY:Sunday Lyceum Book Study
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Lyceum Book Study – 9:30 AM\nOur Sunday Lyceum book study meets every Sunday morning at 9:30 AM\, just before our Spiritualist Sunday Worship service at Memorial Spiritualist Church in Norfolk\, VA. It is a quiet\, thoughtful start to the day\, focused on spiritual learning and honest discussion. \nWhat We Do In Lyceum\nEach week\, we work with a selected book that supports personal growth and deepens our understanding of Spiritualist principles. We read\, reflect\, and then talk about how the ideas show up in real life. \nFirst\, we begin with a brief check-in and a short reading from the current book.\nNext\, we open the floor for discussion. People share insights\, questions\, and personal experiences.\nFinally\, we look at how the material connects with Spiritualism and with our own daily choices. \nThe tone stays open\, respectful\, and practical. You are free to speak or simply listen. \nHow Lyceum Connects To Spiritualism\nLyceum has long been part of Spiritualist tradition as a place for education and spiritual development. In our Sunday Lyceum book study\, we use the book in front of us as a springboard to explore topics like: \n\nNatural law and personal responsibility\nThe continuity of life and Spirit communication\nHealing\, service\, and spiritual growth\n\nYou can also visit our Spiritualism and Declaration of Principles pages on this site to see how these ideas fit within our core beliefs. \nWho Can Attend\nYou do not need to be a member\, a long-time Spiritualist\, or a big reader to join. You can jump in at any point in the book. We recap as needed so new people can follow along. \nMany participants stay after Lyceum for our Sunday worship service\, since the two often complement each other. If you want a thoughtful\, low-pressure way to learn and ask questions\, the Sunday Lyceum book study is a good place to start. \nTo see what else is happening at Memorial Spiritualist Church\, you can also visit our Events Calendar and Spirit Message Programs pages on this site.

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship Service
DESCRIPTION:Our spiritualist church service in Norfolk VA at Memorial Spiritualist Church is called Spiritualist Sunday Worship. Each week\, we bring together healing\, inspiration\, and Spirit messages in a welcoming\, no-pressure setting. For more than 76 years\, our church has offered a steady place to connect with Spirit and with community. \nWhat To Expect Each Sunday\nFirst\, we begin with a time of spiritual healing. You may sit quietly in the healing energy\, receive hands-on or contactless healing\, or add names to our healing book. In this way\, we honor healing as a central part of Spiritualist practice. \nNext\, we move into an inspirational lecture. A speaker shares a practical spiritual message that you can carry into everyday life. Often\, we talk about natural law\, personal growth\, or how to live your own truth with more awareness and courage. \nThen\, a medium offers messages from Spirit. These are evidential messages intended to show the continuity of life. Many people find comfort\, guidance\, and real reassurance during this part of our spiritualist church service Norfolk VA gatherings. \nSpiritualism And Our Sunday Service\nSpiritualism is the Science\, Philosophy\, and Religion of continuous life\, based on proven communication with those who live in the Spirit World. In our Sunday service\, you can see all three aspects working together: \n\nThe science shows in evidential mediumship and Spirit messages.\nThe philosophy comes through in the lecture and teachings.\nThe religion is expressed in prayer\, healing\, and service.\n\nYou can also visit our Declaration of Principles and Spiritualism pages on this site to see how our beliefs support what we do every Sunday. \nPractical Details\nOur Spiritualist Sunday Worship service is free and open to everyone. Love offerings are welcome and help support the ongoing work of Memorial Spiritualist Church\, including our regular Spirit message events\, classes\, and circles. \nIf you would like more ways to experience Spirit messages\, you can visit our Spirit Message Programs page to see our message circles\, billet services\, and other Spirit-focused gatherings. In addition\, you can explore the National Spiritualist Association of Churches website to learn more about Spiritualism as a recognized religion.

SUMMARY:Mindful Meditation Circle
DESCRIPTION:Our Mindful Meditation Circle at Memorial Spiritualist Church in Norfolk\, VA supports the inner work that real mediumship and spiritual growth depend on. Technique is not enough. You also need mental clarity\, emotional balance\, and a steady connection with Spirit. \nWe meet on the second Monday of each month for a focused hour and a half of guided meditation and simple practices. The circle stays quiet\, grounded\, and practical. You do not have to “know how to meditate” to join. You just need a willingness to show up and try. \nEach Mindful Meditation Circle includes brief teaching and plenty of practice. Guided by experienced practitioners\, we work with: \n\nBreathwork and mindfulness to calm the mind and steady the emotions\nVisualization to support intuitive perception and spiritual awareness\nGentle energy awareness so you can notice your own state and reset it\n\nYou stay seated and follow clear\, step by step guidance. There is no pressure to share if you do not want to. You are always free to keep your experience private and simply use the time to rest and reset. \nThis practice pairs well with our Mediumship Development Circle\, because a calm mind and open heart make Spirit communication much clearer. Many students attend both to build a strong inner foundation alongside their technical skills as developing mediums. \nPeople who join our Mindful Meditation Circle often report feeling more centered\, less reactive\, and better able to handle daily stress. With regular practice\, meditation can support emotional healing\, clearer choices\, and a more confident connection with Spirit. \nIf you would like to learn more about Spiritualism and the programs at Memorial Spiritualist Church\, you can visit our Spiritualism page on this site and check the Events Calendar for upcoming circles\, services\, and classes.

SUMMARY:Spirit Filled Supper Club
DESCRIPTION:Our Spirit Filled Supper Club at Memorial Spiritualist Church is a monthly evening of good food\, real conversation\, and Spirit messages. It is relaxed\, friendly\, and rooted in our Spiritualist tradition. \nWhat To Expect\nWe start with dinner. You arrive\, find a seat\, and settle in for a home cooked meal. There is always a main entrée\, dessert options\, and plenty of tea\, both sweet and unsweet. During this first hour\, we simply eat together\, talk\, and enjoy each other’s company. \nAt about 7:30\, we shift into a “Topic and Discussion” time. Someone from our community leads with a short theme or question. Then the group joins in. People share experiences\, ask questions\, and learn from one another. The goal is honest\, thoughtful conversation\, not debate. \nBefore the evening ends\, a medium offers messages from Spirit for those who are present. This brings a spiritual focus to the night and connects our time together with the heart of Spiritualism. \nCost And How To RSVP\nThe Spirit Filled Supper Club costs $10.00 per person. Your contribution helps cover the cost of the meal and supports the work of the church. \nBecause we cook a real dinner\, it is important for us to know how many people to feed. It helps a lot when you RSVP or purchase your ticket in advance. You can RSVP to Teri by email at terid@mscva.org or by phone at 757-402-0069. When available\, you may also purchase your ticket directly on this page. \nIf you enjoy a home cooked meal\, thoughtful discussion\, and Spirit messages in a down-to-earth setting\, the Spirit Filled Supper Club is a great way to spend an evening. \nYou can also visit our Spirit Message Programs page on this site to see all the regular opportunities to receive messages from Spirit\, including our Worship Service and other message-focused events.
